Executive Summary

European equity markets remain in a state of flux following MiFID II’s introduction and weak trading volumes this year. That is not forgetting the other big cloud on the horizon is Brexit. The nature of the U.K.’s exit from the EU will determine the extent to which it affects equity market structure in the region. There is, however, the distinct possibility of dramatic changes to the shape of European capital markets in all areas. This TABB Group Market Note takes a brief look at the possible Brexit scenarios and timelines following the ruling Conservative Party’s majority victory in the U.K general election. It also looks at recent events in Switzerland which may offer a preview of events under a hard Brexit scenario.
